Meet Schneider, Age 13

new family home donated by drexel’s amherst team

Schneider, age 13, lived in an orphanage for 10 years. Schneider’s biological father is deceased, and his mother has remarried. Both parents and a total of five children live in a one-room shack. Schneider’s mother runs a small business at the local market in their hometown selling soft drinks, but does not make enough income to support the family. Her husband has not been able to find employment.

In addition to the new home that is being sponsored by Drexel’s Amherst location, Schneider’s family will participate in resiliency support programs from Overture International, including:

  • Education support for the children
  • Nutrition support through farming
  • Counseling and economic coaching
