Meet Vanelson, Age 13

New Family Home Donated by Drexel’s Brookfield Team

Vanelson, age 13, lived in an orphanage for six years. Vanelson’s mother is a widow and has a total of seven children. She is illiterate and does not generate enough income to support the children. Vanelson’s mother sells food products at the local market in their hometown of Port Salomon (near Les Cayes).

In addition to the new home that is being sponsored by Drexel’s Brookfield location, Vanelson’s family will participate in resiliency support programs from Overture International, including:

  • Education support for Vanelson and his brother
  • A Young Adult Empowerment Program
  • Nutrition support through farming
  • Counseling and economic coaching
